Senior Photo Session

Senior Photo Session by ghholt
Senior Photo Session, a photo by ghholt on Flickr.
Sunday I led a Portrait Photography Groups Senior Photo session at McDowell Park on Lake Wylie. I was hoping for a sunny day to teach the members how to use scrims and reflectors to get better portraits on bright sunny days. Alas I awoke Sunday morning to a totally overcast morning. Such is the live of a portrait artist. So we switch gears and used our reflectors and added a little fill flash to capture some stunning portraits.

Sweetheart Queen Portrait by ghholt
Sweetheart Queen Portrait a photo by ghholt on Flickr.
I started the first day of Spring with a Seniors Photo Shoot at McDowell Park. The first day of spring was very over cast so I had to break out the PocketWizard Flex and Mini and do a little off camera Optimized Highspeed Sync Flash to capture this Senior Portrait.

Spring forward! Early Morning Photography in Waxhaw, NC

Since the clocks were turned ahead an hour this morning I got home from work about the time he sun was rising. I grab my camera and head into the yard to capture some some photographs of blooming trees in my yard. The Cherry trees have been blooming for about two weeks. The Crape Myrtles started blooming a few days ago and all my apple trees have nice healthy buds. Last year I lost a lot of my apple buds to a late hard freeze. Looking forward to a nice crop of Granny Smith Apples this year.

New Born Photo Session

These are some images I edited on Saturday. It was such a rainy gloomy day I was searching through old shoots looking for images that needed processing.

Rainy Weekend...Photoshop time!

It has been a rainy weekend in Waxhaw, NC. Went out yesterday morning just as we were getting our first sprinkles of rain and got a few shots at Misty Meadows Farm. The Bradford Pear trees were at their peak and I don't think the blooms will last through the rain this weekend. So I had to capture the scene with the flat grey sky. With the Bradford Pear trees you only have a few days to catch the blooms.

I spent the rest of the morning trying out some new photoshop editing techniques. Yesterday evening I set-up a high key speedlight set up to capture some head shots for Margaret.
This morning I need to break down my gear and head over to the Lone Sheep Coffee  House at Quail Corners to lead a PPG tethered shooting session. This is a photo I edited this morning.
